Antonio Morgado, radiante tras llevarse la Figueira Champions Classic: "Ganar en Portugal es algo muy importante para mí"

Antonio Morgado está poco a poco demostrando que es una de las nuevas caras del futuro del ciclismo y del UAE Team Emirates XRG. El portugués de 21 años viene de llevarse la carrera de un día más importante de su país, la Figueira Champions Classic 2025. Lo ha hecho con un ataque a 21 kilómetros de meta y superando a corredores de la talla de Paul Magnier, Mathias Vacek, Rui Costa, Biniam Girmay o Julian Alaphilippe.
"Esta victoria me hace sentir muy especial", reflexionaba tras la etapa el talento del UAE Team Emirates XRG en un comunicado publicado en la web oficial de su equipo. "He estado entrenando bien y mis sensaciones son muy buenas sobre la moto, así que sabía que si todo iba bien tendría posibilidades hoy. Me he sentido bien durante la carrera y nuestro equipo ha estado fuerte. Del año pasado sabía que el momento crítico sería probablemente en la subida empinada donde ataqué así que vi mi momento para moverme y lo aproveché."
La segunda victoria de Morgado en la temporada 2025 ha sido aún más dulce por el hecho de que ha conseguido el triunfo en su país y delante de sus compatriotas, que se han mostrado encantados al borde de la carretera. "Estoy muy contento y orgulloso de ganar aquí en Portugal. Como los belgas quieren ganar en Bélgica y los franceses quieren ganar en Francia... yo no soy diferente", concluye. "Esta es la única clásica profesional que tenemos aquí en Portugal y ganarla es algo muy importante para mí".
